Our Story
The CT BIPOC Mental Health & Wellness Alliance was founded in 2020 during the intersecting public health crises of COVID-19 and systemic racism. Recognizing the need for culturally responsive mental health education, healing spaces, advocacy, and community support, a group of passionate professionals and community leaders came together to create opportunities for connection, healing, awareness, and action.
Since its founding, the Alliance has hosted numerous webinars, workshops, networking events, healing conversations, educational forums, and community gatherings focused on issues impacting BIPOC communities. Topics have included racial trauma and healing, men's mental health, motherhood wellness, neurodiversity, and family support systems. Through these efforts, the Alliance has established itself as a trusted community resource and an emerging statewide network dedicated to advancing healing and wellness.
Today, the organization is positioned to expand its impact through membership development, strategic partnerships, leadership development, advocacy initiatives, community programs, and signature events.
Our Mission
The CT BIPOC Mental Health & Wellness Alliance is a statewide collective of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) mental health professionals, healthcare providers, educators, advocates, and holistic healing practitioners committed to advancing equity, healing, and wellness throughout Connecticut.
Founded in response to the intersecting public health crises of COVID-19 and systemic racism, our mission is to provide safe and inclusive spaces that foster courageous conversations, culturally responsive mental health education, social justice advocacy, evidence-informed practice, professional development, and holistic healing.
Through collaboration, community partnerships, leadership development, and accessible programming, we work to reduce disparities, strengthen communities, increase access to culturally affirming resources, and promote lifelong mental wellness.
